I've been experimenting with Macromedia Flash as a comic format. The first results are this pic of Heck from AiT in Flash and GIF formats.

I should probably lay off the AiT refrences for a while

We'll see how long that lasts after AiT: Space 1959 comes out in TPB at the end of the month.

Short Subjects is a place for me to put short webcomics that don't really need their own dedicated sections. These will be silly, experimental, or just plain fun pieces that I can put out while I toil on the feature length projects.

The inaugural strip is a nod to the wonderful Larry Young and his Astronauts in Trouble. It features the characters Jeff and Trev from my RPI comic strip inexplicably transported to a fantastic sci-fi setting, but still getting into very sophmoric situations.

Zot! Online is a continuation of Scott McCloud's 80's era sci-fi comic. Scott is very excited about the 'infinite page' that the web affords him, and uses it to good effect. I hadn't read any Zot! before this series started, but it hooked me right away with it's endearing narrator Jenny, Zot's girlfriend.

McCloud's personal website has a few other experiments with the webcomic form. I recommend the Chess story.

I just realized that the link to the Middletown, NY Preview, no longer says that it is just a preview. Right now there is just some outdated concept art there. I'll be putting up some new preview material within the next week.

Argon Zark is another web comic that spices things up with Javascripted easter eggs. What is also interesting is that the author, one Charley Parker, has removed the first Argon Zark book from the web and published a print edition, which can be ordered from his site. The strip is a surreal adventure story with lots of Web- and computer-oriented villians and challenges.

Rust is a modern fantasy that leverages as much of the web format as the creators can manage. From Alasdair Watson and Daniel Merlin Goodbrey, at Pop Image.

I'm going to start posting links to non-gag online comics.

A whole bunch can be found at Toonorama. That includes tooncast strips like Astounding Space Thrills, and Abby's Menagerie.

One tooncast strip that isn't included is Damnation Game which appears to be on hiatus.

Also of note is Bruno, which has a remarkably rich cast of characters surrounding it's protagonist.

I'll post more as I dig them up, and perhaps add some more detailed comments about these later.
